MIDI  ASH

Handcrafted from carefully selected materials, this unique bass guitar combines the natural character of ash with precision construction and modern electronic versatility.

Built around a 34" scale length and a two-octave range, it has been designed to offer a comfortable , responsive playing experience while retaining a distinctive character of its own.

 

The natural grain of the ash body provides a strong tonal foundation. The laminated Maple and Sapele neck adds both strength and visual depth, whilst the maple fingerboard features a comfortable 20" radius and 24 stainless steel frets  providing a smooth, precise playing surface and excellent long-term durability.

 

Individual string saddles allow for precise adjustment of each strings intonation and action and a 20mm string spacing gives the instrument a comfortable and well-balanced feel for both fingerstyle and more aggressive playing techniques.

 

The bass is equipped with single-coil pickups, fitted with individually made "burr ash" covers that compliment the natural timber of the instrument.  A matching "burr ash"  control cavity cover continues this theme, creating a cohesive and carefully considered appearance.

 

Adding a unique dimension to the instrument is the ROLAND GK-B63 Bass Divided MIDI Pick Up, which allows the bass to communicate with compatible MIDI and guitar-synth equipment, giving the player access to an expanded palette of sounds and creative possibilities whilst retaining the character and immediacy of the conventional pick ups.

 

The headstock is finished with a "burr ash" and Ebony veneer and features detailed mother-of-pearl and abalone inlays.  The combination of these natural materials creates a subtle contrast and gives the headstock its own individual identity.

 

High-quality tuners provide smooth and dependable tuning, whilst the black hardware adds a clean, understated contrast against the natural woods.

 

This instrument is finished with a satin finish, chosen to preserve the natural look and feel of the timber whilst giving the bass a refined, tactile surface.

 

A one-off hand made instrument where the choice of materials, construction and detailing have all been brought together to create something that is distinctive to look at as it is rewarding to play.
